Peardale/Chicago Park

In years past, farmers in the Peardale/Chicago Park area grew pears, plums, peaches and apples for over 100 years. The lack of water required the farming be done with dry farming techniques that the farmers mastered and this created an improved fruit color. Orchards still dot the landscape here.

This area is now an agricultural and residential community. With Rollins Lake so close by, the recreational opportunities are another feature of the communities. Continue on Hwy 174 to Hwy 80 and head up to Lake Tahoe for winter and summer recreation. Go the other way on Hwy 174 and be in Nevada City or Grass Valley in a few minutes, but while you are home, enjoy the peace and quiet of this rural community.
